Our take

The Bondi 9 is HOKA's high-cushion neutral option for daily walking, easier road mileage and long stretches of standing. Its supercritical EVA cushioning and MetaRocker shape create a distinct transition from heel contact to toe-off. It is not a support-category shoe simply because the platform is broad.

We would compare it with the Gaviota for more guidance and with lower-stack models if you dislike a tall platform. The Bondi belongs on sidewalks, paved paths and ordinary roads, including smooth loops around Mirror Lake.

Fit before category

Fit & feel

Pay close attention to width, the heel collar and whether the rocker feels smooth during your normal walking pace. Compare the Bondi 9 with your prior Bondi before assuming the same fit. If you stand all day, try the shoe for longer than a few steps when possible; if you run, include a short jog. Check your chosen size and width on this product page because availability varies by option.

We fit shoes against your foot shape, width, comfort, movement and intended use—not just a label like “neutral” or “stability.”

Good for: Long runs · walking · marathon mileage

The Heritage Trail is built for predictable, repeatable road-style mileage without needing to plan a complicated route. That makes it a natural place for an everyday support trainer.

Our fit perspective: Both perspectives are useful: one runner enjoyed a successful race, while another prefers the feel for walking. Try the Bondi for your own activity rather than assuming every cushioned shoe will feel the same.
