Confluence Running

Our take

The Ghost Max 3 combines DNA LOFT v3 cushioning with a broad neutral platform and GlideRoll Rocker. It targets comfortable everyday use, recovery-style road runs and longer walking days. The rolling transition differs from the more traditional Brooks Ghost, so these are worth comparing directly rather than viewing one as a simple upgrade.

Paved neighborhood loops and rail trails are a sensible match. For uneven, rooty, muddy trails, switch to an appropriate trail-running shoe instead of relying on a tall road platform.

Fit before category

Fit & feel

The fit should feel roomy enough in the forefoot without becoming loose at the heel. Walk in it long enough to notice the rocker transition and make sure the upper doesn't create pressure. If you wore an older Ghost Max, compare both sizing and step-in feel. A higher-cushion shoe does not automatically fit wider feet, so choose the available width by actual comfort.

We fit shoes against your foot shape, width, comfort, movement and intended use—not just a label like “neutral” or “stability.”

Brooks Ghost Max 3 – Plush Cushioning Meets Effortless Stability

Experience max comfort with the Brooks Ghost Max 3, a highly cushioned running shoe built for daily miles, recovery runs, long walks, or extended hours on your feet. Designed for neutral runners and walkers, this versatile trainer offers a smooth, stable ride with every step.

A thick stack of nitrogen-infused DNA LOFT v3 foam delivers soft, pressure-relieving landings that help reduce fatigue and keep your feet feeling fresh through long sessions. The rockered GlideRoll geometry works with a low heel-to-toe offset to promote easy transitions and reduce the energy cost of movement—ideal for maintaining momentum with less effort.

The broad midsole base enhances inherent stability without relying on traditional support features, making it an excellent choice for those seeking balance and comfort in a neutral platform. A breathable engineered mesh upper adds forefoot volume for a more accommodating fit, especially for runners who wear orthotics or prefer a roomier toe box.

Whether you're logging recovery miles, taking long walks, or simply looking for a reliable daily trainer with ultra-soft cushioning, the Ghost Max 3 is built to support you—mile after mile.
