On Cloudmonster 2 Clearance: Big Cushion, Better Value

The On Cloudmonster 2 is $124.88, reduced from $180—a $55.12 saving (30.6% off) while select sizes and colors remain. For runners who like a substantial underfoot platform and a lively, rolling transition, this previous-generation trainer is worth another look.

What makes the Cloudmonster 2 different?

Oversized CloudTec® elements combine with dual-density Helion™ superfoam and a Speedboard® in the midsole. The result is high cushioning with a noticeable forward-rolling feel. An engineered mesh upper provides breathability and structure, while rubber in high-contact outsole areas helps with traction. The men's product listing specifies a 6 mm heel-to-toe offset. This is a neutral high-cushion road shoe—not a motion-control stability model or dedicated racing super shoe.

Who should consider the Cloudmonster 2?

It is a good shoe to try if you enjoy cushioned daily runs, longer easy miles, or comfortable walking and everyday wear. The distinctive rocker may feel natural to some runners and unfamiliar to others. Cushioning does not replace fit: we recommend checking heel hold, forefoot room, and the transition underfoot during a fitting before choosing a clearance pair.

Cloudmonster 2 vs. Cloudmonster 3: what changed?

Cloudmonster 2: a high-cushion, dual-density Helion trainer with oversized CloudTec and an integrated Speedboard, now a lower-cost option in select sizes. Cloudmonster 3: the current-generation daily trainer, with a redesigned triple-layer CloudTec configuration, revised upper and a more pronounced rocker. Independent lab comparisons also describe a more structured upper and somewhat softer impact sensation in version 3, although fit and ride preferences are personal.

As of this update, the Cloudmonster 3 is listed at $189.99 at Confluence Running. The 2 is not automatically the wrong choice because a newer version exists; the best value is the shoe that works for your foot and your miles.

Is the Cloudmonster 3 Hyper the same thing?

No. The Cloudmonster 3 Hyper is positioned as a higher-end long-run and faster-training shoe using Helion HF foam and a different, plateless design. It should not be treated as a direct replacement for the regular Cloudmonster 2 daily trainer. Our goal is to help runners choose based on the ride they need, not just the model number.

What sizes and colors can I still buy?

Both men's and women's Cloudmonster 2 master listings are active, but remaining stock varies by size, color and store. Men's colors include Glacier/Tangerine, Tempest/Horizon, Undyed/Flame and Black/Frost; women's include Cream/Horizon, Undyed/Zest, Mineral/Aloe and Black/Frost. Some combinations have already sold out. Use the product selectors for the latest available options, or ask a Confluence Running store to check another location.

Can I try the Cloudmonster 2 in person?

Yes, at locations where the size you need remains in stock. Our staff can compare the Cloudmonster ride with other high-cushion road trainers, discuss appropriate sizing and width, and help you decide whether the older model is the better choice for you. Come in for a fitting if you are unsure; clearance is only a good deal when the shoe fits.
